[Go Back]

My story is not unusual, but it will provide some new reading for some of you LOL. (I am seeking treatment out of the country, however, so you might want to hang around for that) On the morning of December 5, 2001, I was on my way to work. I was only a couple of miles from home, and hadn't dropped my kids off at daycare yet. I hit a patch of black ice, and started to skid, after a couple of 180 degree turns, my Ford Expedition slid over to the shoulder of the road, and when it hit the dirt it catapulted me over. We rolled and came to an abrupt halt against 2 trees. One hit me, and one hit my 5 yr old daughter, who was sitting directly behind me, but thankfully in a car seat. My 3 yr old son, also in a carseat, was next to her. My daughter had a cut on top of her head, but other than that, neither was injured. (We later found out the impact of the tree cracked her car seat. ) I knew immediately that I couldn't move my legs. Someone was right behind me, and came to our aid, calling emergency services, and the rest of the story is pretty much like anyone else's, intensive care, with surgery, and rehab after. I came across a website about 6 months later, about a clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, doing some experimental work with stem cells from blue sharks. I won't go into detail about the clinic now, but will provide that info to anyone who is interested. I visited the clinic in September of 2002, and after much fundraising and creative financing, was able to start treatment in October of 2004. Immediately after the surgery, and my first transplant of the stem cells, and growth factors, I had some recovery of sensation down on my back, and started to be able to feel when my bladder was filling. I will be returning soon for more transpants, and will keep this updated for any interested parties. Please email me at jillb470@aol.com if you would like more detailed information, or the name of the clinic. Looking forward to hearing from you.
