[Go Back]

It was Labor Day week-end 1990 i was playing in a softball turny. After we got done playing my brother and some friends went 4 wheeling. Then we went to my Grandma&Grandps'a cabin to go swimming.I'v been going there ever since i was a lil kid.I dove off the end of the dock and hit the bottom.I iknew something happened to me because i could'nt come up.My mom saw my arms in the water. She yelled at my younger brother to go get me.There were about 10-15 people there. One of my cousins was a nurse and told my brother and friends to keep me in the water.I remember my brother holding my head and shoulders and my friends holding the rest of my body. I also remember when the pararamedic's got there is was around 9pm.One of then was going to just throw the backboard in and tell my brother how to strap me in.My brother gave me him every word in the book.So finially he jumped in the water. The next thing i remember is at the hospital them shoving a tube down my throat. They flew in to the neastest big hospital.I was the ICU for 4 weeks. Then they moved me to a different room. After i was stronger in went to rehap.I was in rehap for 4 months. After i got home i felt different but still kept on going. Why should a wheelchair slow me down i thought.
